Heavy metal festival collaboration, limited special edition · 2023

NordBrief × Wacken

Co-branded crypto stamp family from the NordBrief Rendsburg × Wacken Open-Air Festival cooperation. First and so far only edition: Wacken Wallet 2023 (14 July 2023, 50,000 mintage). Planned as an annual W:O:A edition, but follow-up editions in 2024/2025 were not realised.

History

The NordBrief × Wacken family emerged from a one-off cooperation between NordBrief Rendsburg, a private postal service provider in Schleswig-Holstein, and the Wacken Open-Air Festival, the world's largest heavy-metal festival. Launched on 14 July 2023 to coincide with the festival opening as the first German crypto stamp and simultaneously the world's first co-branded crypto stamp between a postal operator and a music festival.

Structural Position

The edition covers two pioneer claims at once:

Pioneer claimPosition
First German crypto stamp (private postal)NordBrief, 14.07.2023
First national crypto stamp of GermanyDeutsche Post, 02.11.2023
First co-branded postal × festival worldwideNordBrief × Wacken, 14.07.2023

NordBrief takes the first claim 4 months ahead of Deutsche Post — a notable demonstration that private postal service providers can move faster on innovative product lines than large state-owned operators.

Tech Stack

Polygon ERC-721 with physical stamp (NFC chip + QR code) plus dynamic digital twin as collector card. Tech production by Variuscard / VariusSystems (Vienna) — the same stack that powers Austrian Post's crypto stamps. Structurally NordBrief therefore belongs to the Stampfinity cluster (AT Post, PostNL, POST Luxembourg, bpost, CTT Portugal, Faroe Islands, EPG, AU Post).

Follow-up editions: none

The original concept was an annual W:O:A edition; planned follow-up drops in 2024 and 2025 were not realised. The family remains a single edition for now.
