The Family: Talary Filatelistyczne
The Talary Filatelistyczne (Philatelic Thalers) are a purely digital NFT line of Poczta Polska — no physical stamps. They are designed as numismatic collectibles in the traditional thaler format (Thaler — historical Polish coin) with historical Polish kings and personalities.
Poland's First Crypto Innovation
While most crypto stamp issuers start with hybrid stamps (physical + NFT), Poczta Polska started on 18.10.2022 with a purely digital NFT line:
- Thaler "August" with King Sigismund II Augustus
- Mintage: 1,558 pieces — symbolism of the post founding year 1558!
- Reduction to 1,502 ex (not all newsletter subscribers collected the token)
- Distribution: first 1,558 newsletter subscribers received the token for free
- Launch date: Dzień Łączności (Communications Day, 18 October)
This NFT-first strategy is unique in the crypto stamp space — other issuers typically launch with hybrid stamps.
Functions of the Thalers
The Talary Filatelistyczne have three main functions:
1. Pre-Order Token
Originally conceived to pre-order crypto stamps — thaler holders had preferred access to later crypto stamp drops. Price: 10 MATIC for pre-order thaler.
2. Standalone Collectibles
With independent collector value through:
- Limited mintages (typically 600-3,600 ex)
- Historical Polish themes
- High-quality designs
3. Anniversary/Bonus Tokens
Special occasions:
- 1st Anniversary (18.10.2023)
- 2nd Anniversary (19.11.2024)
- Valentine editions (annual: 2023, 2024, 2026)
- Cryptophilately Pass (March 2023)

Theme Strategy: Polish Kings and Personalities
The thaler themes follow a systematic historical line:
| Personality | Significance |
|---|---|
| Sigismund II Augustus | Post founder 1558 |
| Nicolaus Copernicus | Astronomer (1473-1543) |
| Anna Jagiellon | Queen (1523-1596) |
| Jadwiga | Queen (1374-1399) |
| John III Sobieski | King (1629-1696), Battle of Vienna |
| Jan Matejko | Painter (1838-1893) |
| Tadeusz Kościuszko | National hero (1746-1817) |
This choice reflects Polish national identity through numismatic tradition.
