What Is StampsDaq?

StampsDaq is an Estonian tech startup (Ethereum sidechain) specializing in cooperation with postal services worldwide — as a bridge between classical postal collectors and the crypto world. The platform enables postal services to issue their own crypto stamps without having to build their own blockchain infrastructure.

Two Documented Postal Service Applications

StampsDaq has two documented postal service applications in crypto stamp history:

1. CTT Caravela (28.02.2023, Portugal)

• Mintage: 40,000 pieces (30,000 physical + 10,000 purely digital)

• Format: solo edition, single stamp
• Mechanic: 10-digit numerical code for NFT activation

2. Gibraltar Football Mini Sheet (04.07.2024, Gibraltar)

• Format: mini sheet with 16 × £5 stamps
• Motif: Trinity Lighthouse with football elements
• NFTs per sheet: 2 (Barbary Macaque + Euro opening match)
• Mechanic: alphanumeric activation code per sheet
• Sports tribute format: first football-themed crypto stamp in the world

Platform Mechanic

The StampsDaq platform supports multiple structural format variants:

Single Stamp Format (CTT 2023)

1. Physical stamp + card: Buyer receives card with stamp and 10-digit code
2. Code entry: On the StampsDaq platform
3. NFT activation: Digital twin is registered on the blockchain
4. Rarity reveal: Mystery box mechanic at activation

Mini Sheet Format (Gibraltar 2024)

1. Sheet with 16 stamps: all stamps with the same motif
2. Alphanumeric sheet code: one code for the entire sheet
3. 2 NFT activations per sheet: via the sheet code (2 different NFT motifs)
4. Sheet as inseparable unit: collectors activate the whole sheet, not individual stamps

The platform flexibility (single stamp AND mini sheet) is a structural differentiation feature versus Variuscard.

CTT Platform Switch 2025

Notably: CTT migrated away from StampsDaq to Variuscard in 2025 for the Poseidon edition (joint edition with AT, NL, LU, BE). Simultaneously, Gibraltar switched to StampsDaq for the Football 2024 edition.

Thus, after 2025, StampsDaq has:

• CTT Caravela 2023: historical item, no longer an active tech partner
• Gibraltar: active tech partner since 2024

Structurally, StampsDaq is a stable multi-issuer platform with two documented applications — different from the original assumption that it is inactive after the CTT switch.
