Pioneer Maker: Burt Todd

Burt Todd (1924-2006), American Pittsburgh businessman, was architect of Bhutanese stamp innovations:

  • First American in Bhutan (1951)
  • Adviser to Bhutanese royal family
  • Setup Bhutan Stamp Agency in Nassau, Bahamas
  • Pioneer of unusual designs (3D, silk, talking)

After Todd's departure in 1972, IGPC became main distributor — with Disney/Olympic themes. 1996: Bhutan Postal Corporation takes over own stamp production. 2022: Stampsdaq crypto stamps.

Theme: Traditional Musical Instruments

The Stampsdaq edition celebrates traditional Bhutanese music:

  • Dranyen: traditional lute of Bhutan (main motif)
  • Other Bhutanese instruments
  • Tibet-Buddhist musical heritage
