Ronny Ratel

Österreichische Post released the Crypto stamp Ronny Ratel on 19 March 2026 as one of the two launch characters of the second Crypto stamp Island series (CSI2), issued alongside Rex Leo. Ronny Ratel, a honey-badger character, opens the new series as its first character. The edition was limited to 6,050 copies and sold for €11.35 on the Polygon blockchain, continuing the post's pioneering work in blockchain-based philately that began in 2019.

The Ronny Ratel design carries forward the narrative-driven world-building the post established with the first Crypto stamp Island cast (Aurora Sparks, Kabosu, Raka, Bambu and Cassius). Where the debut series introduced the island and its characters one release at a time, CSI2 opens with two characters at once — Ronny Ratel and the lion Rex Leo — signalling a shift from single-character drops toward paired launches. The honey badger, folklorically fearless, anchors the new series as its opening protagonist.

Minted on the Polygon blockchain as an ERC-721 token, Ronny Ratel shares a single smart contract with Rex Leo — the two editions issue from the same contract, following the shared-contract precedent set by the Zeus and Hera stamps. Each of the 6,050 NFTs corresponds to a physical stamp, preserving the hybrid philatelic-digital model that has defined the program since 2019. The run of 6,050 is smaller than the 7,500 of each first-series character.

Beyond the five standard colour variants (Schwarz, Grün, Blau, Gelb, Rot), the launch included a special holographic variant named "Mr. Blue", limited to 60 pieces and randomly distributed across the packs. The retail price of €11.35 marks an increase over the €9.90 of the first Crypto stamp Island characters, reflecting the post's repricing of the mainstream tier for 2026.
