The Dog (Part 9) — Crypto Stamp Fantastic Animals

Ninth Fantastic Animals release from Liechtenstein — the Dog, June 2024; the rainbow variant is rarest at just 50 copies.

The Dog is the ninth release in Liechtenstein's small-sheet Fantastic Animals series (Philately Liechtenstein / Liechtensteinische Post AG), issued on 6 June 2024 (product no. 297.24.07, face value CHF 9.50). The vector-art dog follows the series' playful style across several colour variants; the rainbow variant (50 copies, the rarest) is confirmed, while the remaining colour variants and their splits are not yet publicly documented. As a pre-September-2024 issue, authenticity was secured through OriginStamp blockchain hash-anchoring — it is not yet a tradeable NFT.

Series Overview

The Dog belongs to Liechtenstein's twelve-part Fantastic Animals small-sheet series, issued by Philately Liechtenstein / Liechtensteinische Post AG. The series ran from 2022 to 2024 and opened with the Cat in Sunglasses in December 2022. Each release presents a single animal rendered in a playful vector-art style across several colour variants, continuing the format Liechtenstein established with its first small-sheet crypto stamp collection.

This Release (The Dog)

The Dog is the ninth part of the twelve-part series, released on 6 June 2024 under product no. 297.24.07 with a face value of CHF 9.50. It carries forward the series' signature look: a bold, anthropomorphic animal character drawn in flat vector art. As one of the 2024 issues, the Dog sits in the later stretch of the Fantastic Animals run, ahead of the series' conclusion.

Colour Variants

The Dog was issued in several colour variants. Only one is publicly documented in detail:

  • Rainbow: 50 copies (rarest, confirmed)

The remaining colour variants and their individual print runs are not publicly documented as of research. Their names and counts are therefore not listed here, and no total mintage across all variants has been officially published.

Technical Implementation / Authenticity

As a pre-September-2024 issue, the Dog does not carry a tradeable ERC NFT. Authenticity for the early Fantastic Animals releases was secured through OriginStamp blockchain hash-anchoring, which timestamps and anchors a cryptographic hash of the item rather than minting a transferable token.

Liechtenstein's first true tradeable NFTs began later, with the Crypto/Business Fox issued in September 2024. The Dog, released three months earlier, therefore predates that shift and belongs to the hash-anchored generation of the series.

Design Attribution

The design is attributed to Isabella Gassner, a Liechtenstein-based designer confirmed for the 2024 crypto stamp editions. Her work carries the series' consistent visual language: flat vector shapes, strong colour, and a friendly, character-driven animal motif.

Position in the Fantastic Animals Series

The Dog is part 9 of 12 in the Fantastic Animals series (2022–2024):

  • The series opened with the Cat in Sunglasses (December 2022)
  • It ran across twelve animal releases through 2024
  • The Dog (June 2024) falls near the end of the run

Within that arc, the Dog marks one of the final chapters of Liechtenstein's hash-anchored small-sheet animals, issued just before the postal service moved to genuinely tradeable NFTs with the September 2024 Fox.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is the Dog crypto stamp a tradeable NFT?

No. As a pre-September-2024 issue, the Dog uses OriginStamp blockchain hash-anchoring for authenticity rather than a tradeable ERC token. Only the later releases from the Crypto/Business Fox onward (September 2024) were Liechtenstein's first true tradeable NFTs.
