The Quokka (Part 10) — Crypto Stamp Fantastic Animals
Tenth Fantastic Animals release from Liechtenstein — the Quokka, August 2024; 7,000 total, rainbow variant rarest at 50.
The Quokka is the tenth release in Liechtenstein's small-sheet Fantastic Animals series (Philately Liechtenstein / Liechtensteinische Post AG), issued on 8 August 2024 (product no. 297.24.09, face value CHF 9.50). Total mintage is 7,000. The vector-art quokka follows the series' playful style; the rainbow variant (50 copies, the rarest) is confirmed, while the split of the remaining colour variants is not publicly documented. As a pre-September-2024 issue, authenticity was secured through OriginStamp blockchain hash-anchoring — it is not yet a tradeable NFT.

Series Overview
The Fantastic Animals series is a twelve-part small-sheet collection issued by Philately Liechtenstein / Liechtensteinische Post AG between 2022 and 2024. Each release features a single playful vector-art animal character. The series opened with Cat in Sunglasses in December 2022 and continued with a themed animal at regular intervals, becoming Liechtenstein's signature small-sheet crypto stamp series.
This Release — The Quokka
The Quokka is the tenth of the twelve editions, issued on 8 August 2024 (product no. 297.24.09) with a face value of CHF 9.50. Total mintage is 7,000. Rendered in the same cheerful vector-art style as the rest of the series, the smiling Australian marsupial fits the collection's lighthearted, character-driven approach.
Colour Variants
The 7,000 copies are split across several colour variants. Only the Rainbow variant is publicly documented, limited to 50 numbered copies — by far the rarest in the release. The individual print runs of the remaining colour variants are not published; taken together, the non-rainbow issue accounts for approximately 6,950 copies (7,000 total minus the 50 rainbow). No per-colour names or counts beyond the rainbow figure have been officially confirmed.
Technical Implementation & Authenticity
As a pre-September-2024 issue, the Quokka does not carry a tradeable ERC NFT. Instead, authenticity is secured through OriginStamp blockchain hash-anchoring, which timestamps a cryptographic hash of the stamp on-chain as a proof of existence. Liechtenstein's first true tradeable NFTs arrived only with the Crypto/Business Fox in September 2024, one month after the Quokka. Collectors should therefore treat the Quokka as a hash-anchored authenticity record rather than an on-chain transferable token.
Design Attribution
The design is credited to Isabella Gassner, a Liechtenstein-based designer confirmed for the 2024 crypto stamp editions. Her work continues the series' established visual language: bold, flat colours and an anthropomorphic, friendly animal character rendered as clean vector art.
Position in the Fantastic Animals Series
Released as part 10 of 12, the Quokka sits in the late stage of the 2022–2024 run that began with Cat in Sunglasses. It belongs to the final group of editions issued before Liechtenstein transitioned to genuine tradeable NFTs, marking the Quokka as one of the last hash-anchored entries in the series.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is the Quokka crypto stamp a tradeable NFT?
No. As a pre-September-2024 issue, the Quokka uses OriginStamp blockchain hash-anchoring for authenticity rather than a tradeable ERC token. Only the later releases from the Crypto/Business Fox onward (September 2024) were Liechtenstein's first true tradeable NFTs.
