2024 Year of the Dragon
Year of the Dragon
NZ Post released their second Lunar New Year edition on VeVe on 16 February 2024 (following Rabbit 2023). The edition features four stamps with characteristic Aotearoa-Lunar fusion, each with its own New Zealand-Chinese story: Longevity Noodles (dragon from bowl with fern garnish), Garden of Prosperity (dragon helping toddler harvest Chinese cabbage), Land of Good Fortune (Otago goldrush 1865, Chinese miners from Canton), and Festive Fireworks (based on Hobson Street Auckland 1940). The physical stamps were printed 6 December 2023 by Brebner Print, designed by YMC Design. As a crafting mechanic, collectors of all four stamps could craft a Year of the Dragon Medallion until 29 February 2024 — the first documented VeVe crafting mechanic in NZ Post's programme.
