The "Der Mensch als Entdecker" Series

Deutsche Post's second crypto stamp series started on 11 June 2026 with the Marianengraben (Mariana Trench) edition, roughly 8 months after the architecture series "Historische Bauwerke in Deutschland" closed with the Semperoper edition in October 2025. The series title translates as "The Human as Explorer": each stamp presents an outstanding event that expanded our understanding of the world and the cosmos — the deepest dive, the highest mountains. The technical setup stays the same: a self-adhesive special stamp in a booklet, plus an NFT twin on the Ciphers.me platform (Royal Joh. Enschedé) with MetaMask wallet access.

What Changed Compared with the Architecture Series

Revised colour lottery. The four-colour system continues, but the tiers and the colours themselves were reworked. Instead of Yellow 63% / Purple 25% / Blue 10% / Pink 2%, the new series splits the 50,000 booklets into Orange 50% (25,000), Green 35% (17,500), Blue 10% (5,000) and Pink 5% (2,500). The rarest tier is therefore more than twice as common as before, while the most common tier drops from 63% to 50%. Colour choice at order time is still not possible; the booklet ships at random in a neutral sealed envelope.

Stable mintage. The last two architecture editions already had 50,000 booklets each; the explorer series keeps that level rather than cutting further.

Same tech stack, no confirmed contract. Deutsche Post names Ciphers.me and MetaMask on its official series page. The blockchain is not named there; the Polygon attribution in the edition fixtures is inferred from the five Ciphers.me editions of 2023–2025.

Curator note: as of 2026-09-20 only Marianengraben has been issued. Himalaya (1 October 2026) is listed in the Federal Ministry of Finance programme and by the collector press, but the Deutsche Post shop has no product page yet — mintage and colour split for Himalaya rest on aggregator data and are unconfirmed by the issuer.
