Third European crypto stamp programme since 2021, world's first AI-generated issue · 2021
Swiss Crypto Stamp — Swiss Post Programme
The Swiss Crypto Stamp family covers the national solo editions of Schweizerische Post AG (Swiss Post) before the merger with Liechtenstein into the CHLI joint format from 2025 onwards. Three editions appeared in this line: SCS 1.0 (25.11.2021, Robot Helvetia / mountain motifs), SCS 2.0 (08.08.2022, Locarno Film Festival), and SCS 3.0 (02.05.2023, AI-generated, 14 Midjourney versions). Tech stack consistently on Polygon, platform-side operated by Inacta AG (Zug) with Tokengate as marketplace. The family represents the mature Phase 1 of the Swiss crypto stamp programme; subsequent editions from May 2025 onwards appear under the bilateral [CHLI joint family](/families/chli-joint).

What is the Swiss Crypto Stamp?
Swiss Crypto Stamp (SCS) is the crypto stamp programme of Schweizerische Post AG (Swiss Post), launched on 25 November 2021. With SCS 1.0, Swiss Post was the third European postal operator to issue a crypto stamp — after Österreichische Post (June 2019) and Hrvatska pošta (September 2020).
Three solo editions appeared under this family before the line evolved into the bilateral CHLI joint format with Liechtensteinische Post in May 2025.
Tech Partnership: Inacta + Tokengate
Swiss Post chose a different partner stack from Austria's Variuscard or Croatia's BitX/NodeFactory line:
- Inacta AG (Zug) — backend and blockchain infrastructure, headquartered in Switzerland's Crypto Valley
- Tokengate — marketplace platform built on top of Inacta's stack
- Polygon — chain choice from day one (no Ethereum-to-Polygon migration like AT or HR experienced)
The Crypto Valley anchoring is intentional. Zug has been Switzerland's blockchain hub since 2014, and Swiss Post's choice of Inacta signals that the SCS programme is positioned within the Swiss crypto-economic ecosystem rather than as an isolated philatelic experiment.
The Three Solo Editions
SCS 1.0 — Robot Helvetia (25.11.2021)
The premiere edition uses a Robot Helvetia motif against Swiss mountain landscapes — a deliberate juxtaposition of cutting-edge robotics with iconic Alpine scenery. Five colour variants in the Austrian-style rarity ladder.
SCS 2.0 — Locarno Film Festival (08.08.2022)
Issued for the 75th Locarno Film Festival (Italian-speaking Switzerland's flagship cinema event). Cooperation with the festival makes this the first SCS edition to anchor the programme to a specific Swiss cultural institution.
SCS 3.0 — AI/Midjourney (02.05.2023)
The structurally most important edition: SCS 3.0 is the world's first AI-generated crypto stamp. The motif was created with Midjourney in 14 distinct AI versions, with deeply tiered mintage from 65,000 down to 50 (Rainbow). The edition predates the AT-side AI experiments by months and was widely cited at the time as proof-of-concept that generative AI could enter the official philatelic catalogue.
Evolution into CHLI
Starting May 2025 (CHLI 1.0, 4 June 2025), Swiss Post no longer issues solo crypto stamps. The programme has merged with Liechtensteinische Post into the bilateral CHLI joint family. All later Swiss issues — CHLI 1.0 (Cow + Matterhorn + Vaduz Castle, June 2025) and CHLI 2.0 (Christmas Cow with halving mechanic, November 2025) — sit under that joint family rather than under Swiss Crypto Stamp.
The Swiss Crypto Stamp family is therefore a closed three-edition catalogue covering the 2021-2023 solo era.
Significance
SCS occupies a distinctive niche in the European crypto stamp landscape:
- Crypto Valley anchoring — first programme to use a Swiss blockchain partner stack
- AI premiere — SCS 3.0 introduced AI-generated motifs to official philately
- No platform churn — Polygon from day one, no Ethereum legacy
- Clean evolution into joint format — the family ended cleanly when the bilateral CHLI line started, no overlap
This makes Swiss Crypto Stamp one of the more architecturally tidy national programmes — a closed solo era followed by a clearly demarcated joint era.
