About Swiss Crypto Stamp 4.0
Swiss Crypto Stamp 4.0 of 24 April 2024 is the fourth crypto stamp by Swiss Post, following SCS 1.0 (2021), SCS 2.0 (2022) and SCS 3.0 (2023). Its mascot is Marmi the marmot, who tours through a range of Swiss landscapes across 24 different Basic-Edition versions.
Marmi the Marmot
The Alpine marmot is one of the most recognisable animals of the Swiss mountains. By putting a named character — Marmi — at the centre of the edition, Swiss Post moves from the abstract, theme-driven SCS 3.0 toward a warmer, mascot-led narrative. Marmi appears in changing settings across the 24 versions: different valleys, seasons, and moods.
AI-Generated Motifs (Midjourney)
Like SCS 3.0, the SCS 4.0 motifs were generated with AI — this time via Midjourney. The tool produced the 24 Marmi variations, each placing the marmot in a distinct scene while keeping the character recognisable. This continues the Swiss line's move into AI-assisted stamp design that began with SCS 3.0.
Curator note: the AI toolchain is attributed to Midjourney per public reporting on the edition; the exact prompt/curation workflow is not documented here.
The Three Editions
SCS 4.0 shipped as a small family of releases:
- Basic Edition — 24 versions, total mintage 7,500, launch 24 April 2024
- Special Edition — released the following day, 25 April 2024
- Wallpaper Edition — also released 25 April 2024
The Basic Edition is the core collectible. The Special and Wallpaper editions round out the release; their exact mintages and prices are not conclusively verified here.
Chain and Contract
Curator note: the blockchain is inferred as Polygon, not on-chain-verified for this edition. Swiss Post's crypto-stamp line moved to Polygon (confirmed for CHLI 1.0 and 2.0 via the post.ch FAQ contract publication), and SCS 4.0 is assumed to follow the same Inacta/Tokengate Polygon deployment. No contract address was resolved for SCS 4.0 — verify against crypto-stamp.post.ch before relying on it.
Position in the Swiss Line
SCS 4.0 marks the point where the Swiss programme adopts a recurring character:
- SCS 1.0 (2021): Swiss geography (mountains)
- SCS 2.0 (2022): Swiss film (Locarno)
- SCS 3.0 (2023): Swiss digitalisation (AI motifs)
- SCS 4.0 (2024): Marmi the marmot (AI-generated mascot)
Where SCS 3.0 introduced AI generation as a concept, SCS 4.0 puts that same tooling to work on a friendly, repeatable mascot — a step toward a more brand-driven collector line.
Frequently Asked Questions
Who is Marmi, and why a marmot?
Marmi is the marmot mascot of Swiss Crypto Stamp 4.0. The Alpine marmot is an iconic Swiss mountain animal and thus a natural choice for an edition that lets Marmi travel through various Swiss landscapes. The 24 versions of the Basic Edition show Marmi in changing sceneries — the AI (Midjourney) varies environment, style, and detail. The edition thereby continues the Switzerland theme of its predecessors while extending the AI image generation of SCS 3.0.
What distinguishes the Basic, Special and Wallpaper editions?
The Basic Edition is the core issue: 24 different versions, total mintage 7,500 pieces, launch 24 April 2024. On the following day, 25 April 2024, two further issues appeared: the Special Edition (a higher-tier, smaller issue) and the Wallpaper Edition (a large-format motif). The exact mintages and prices of the Special and Wallpaper editions are not conclusively verified here — for reliable figures please check crypto-stamp.post.ch.
