About the Collezione Blu 2025

The Posta Prioritaria — Collezione Blu issued on 13 March 2025 is the second edition of the Cripto Folder series and continuation of the successful Collezione Gialla (November 2024). It takes over almost all structural elements of the pilot edition and expands them by three central aspects: larger mintage (600 instead of 400), substantially richer contents (35 historical stamps, 3 carnets, 3 lamine, souvenir sheet), and a souvenir sheet for the 160th anniversary of Poste Italiane.

Structurally the edition is thus a scaling of the Gialla architecture, not a conceptual break. Theme (Posta Prioritaria 1999-2008), tech stack (Polygon/DTO), platform (nft.poste.it), redemption deadline (31.12.2025) — everything remains identical.

Mintage 600 — Cautious Scaling

The mintage expansion from 400 to 600 sets is very cautiously calibrated:

The +50 % increase is substantially smaller than the typical scaling of other crypto stamp programmes for follow-up editions — an indication that Poste Italiane consciously maintains the premium niche strategy. A doubling or quadrupling of the mintage would have been possible but was not chosen.

Possible reasons for the restrained scaling:

1. Capacity of the in-house platform: nft.poste.it must handle redemption and custodial management — too rapid scaling could cause technical problems
2. Market uncertainty: The Gialla was sold out, but this could primarily be explained by the scarcity of 400 sets — at 600 or more sets, demand may be more limited
3. Premium positioning: Larger mintages would dilute the premium collector status
4. Redemption logic: With larger mintage, the activation rate would likely be lower

Richer Contents: Box-Set Expansion

The Blu has substantially richer contents than the Gialla:

The Blu is thus substantially more comprehensive than the Gialla — a clear step toward "the larger, the more valuable". This fits the premium collector logic in which the box set is primary and the NFT is a complementary component.

The 160th Anniversary of Poste Italiane

The souvenir sheet for the 160th anniversary is a central new element. Poste Italiane was founded in 1862 — as a consequence of Italian unification (Unità d'Italia, 17 March 1861) and the necessity of a unified postal system for the new nation-state. The predecessor was the Kingdom of Sardinia postal system, which was gradually transferred to the all-Italian system from 1860.

The 2025 souvenir sheet honors the anniversary with a two-year delay. This delay is programmatic — the Cripto Folder series combines threefold historical layers:

1. The Posta Prioritaria 1999-2008 (theme)
2. The 160-year Poste Italiane history 1862-2022 (souvenir sheet)
3. The crypto stamp innovation 2024-2025 (NFT component)

This threefold temporal layering is unique in the crypto stamp space. Other issuers typically work with one or maximum two temporal references per edition.

Visual Concept of the Cripto Folder

The NFT of the Blu visualizes the covers of the four philatelic folders — both internal and external covers. From their composition emerges the P stamp symbol, the Posta Prioritaria logo seen on the stamps in the set.

The symbol is accompanied by the historical Posta Prioritaria slogan: "Posta prioritaria. Veloce, facile, economico" (Priority post. Fast, easy, economical). Plus the logo of philatelic products with digital twin.

This cover composition as visualization is conceptually notable: the NFT is not an independent image or animation (as with FR or DE), but a re-combination of the physical box-set components in digital form. The digital and physical worlds are thus not parallel, but recursively related to each other.

Tech Stack: Identical to the Gialla

All technical elements are identical to the Gialla:

• Platform: nft.poste.it (in-house with DTO)
• Redemption mechanic: QR code on Cripto Card → platform → NFT generation
• Redemption deadline: 31.12.2025 (expired)
• Self-custody: possible (Polygon wallets)

The consistency in tech stack is programmatic — with two editions, Poste Italiane establishes a stable technical pattern that will likely be reused in a hypothetical third edition (Verde? Rossa?).

Secondary Market Architecture

The Blu is the first edition where Poste Italiane explicitly addresses the secondary market:

"Il mercato secondario è libero, come per il prodotto fisico. È l'acquirente che, una volta riscattato, deciderà se trasferire il suo NFT ad un account blockchain di un'altra persona."

Freely translated: "The secondary market is free, as with the physical product. After redemption, the buyer decides whether to transfer their NFT to a blockchain account of another person."

Important: the secondary market transaction takes place outside the Poste Italiane infrastructure — on third-party platforms like OpenSea or Rarible (on Polygon). After redemption, Poste Italiane assumes no further responsibility.

This clear disjunction between issuer and asset is notable in the crypto stamp space. With DE (Ciphers.me), the NFT remains in custodial management — the issuer (or custodial provider) retains technical control. With IT, the NFT passes into complete collector hands after redemption.
