Gold Editions
Gold Editions are the premium line of the crypto stamp program: each issue pairs a physical stamp with an embedded 1g gold bar from Münze Österreich (Vienna Philharmonic or equivalent) and an NFT on Polygon. Mintages run 350–500 pieces per issue at a sale price around EUR 500 — most of which covers the material value of the embedded gold bar. Separate ANK catalog numbering; the line launched in 2020 with the Golden Unicorn edition as a tribute to Crypto Stamp 1.0.

Gold Editions are the premium line of Austrian Post's crypto stamp program: every issue pairs a philatelically valid stamp with an embedded 1g gold bar from Münze Österreich and an NFT on Polygon. The line targets collectors who want to combine classical philately with investment-grade gold and web-3 verification in a single product.
Gold content and material value
Every Gold Edition contains a 1g gold bar (999.9 fine gold) from Münze Österreich (Vienna Philharmonic or equivalent minting). The raw material value at current gold prices is around EUR 60–80 per stamp; the ~EUR 500 sale price therefore carries a collector premium reflecting mintage, NFC chip, NFT pairing, and limited availability.
Münze Österreich, a wholly owned subsidiary of the Austrian National Bank, is one of the world's most prestigious mints. Gold provenance and purity are fully certified.
Mintage and cataloging
Mintages typically run 350–500 pieces per issue. The first Gold Edition — the "Golden Unicorn" edition from 9 December 2020 — shipped as a tribute to Crypto Stamp 1.0 with 999 pieces. Later Gold Editions were deliberately capped at 350–500 to boost collector value.
Important: the Gold line keeps its own edition numbering in the ANK catalog (Austria-Netto-Katalog), independent of the Mainstream line. What ANK lists as "Crypto stamp No. 6" is the Golden Unicorn edition from the Gold line — not the Crypto Stamp 6.0 (Zeus, 2025) from the Mainstream line. When checking a collector catalog, always verify both line and number together.
Technology and secondary market
Gold Editions run exclusively on Polygon (ERC-1155). NFT-side activation runs through crypto.post.at; secondary-market transfers go through cryptostamp.com (verified sellers) or OpenSea (Polygon).
Resale prices typically sit above the original issue price — partly because of gold-price movement, partly because of the low mintage. Collector value and material value reinforce one another.

Frequently Asked Questions
How much gold is in a Gold Edition crypto stamp?
Every Gold Edition contains a 1g gold bar (999.9 fine gold) from Münze Österreich, integrated into the stamp carrier format. This is investment-grade coin gold with verifiable provenance — Münze Österreich is one of the world's most prestigious mints. The gold content explains most of the ~EUR 500 sale price; the rest covers the NFC chip, NFT pairing, and limited-collector premium.
What is the typical mintage for a Gold Edition?
Mintages typically run 350–500 pieces per issue — three orders of magnitude below Mainstream editions (15,000–240,000). The Golden Unicorn edition (2020) had 999 pieces; later Gold Editions tend to land at 350–500. This artificial scarcity is part of the collector strategy: low mintage + high material value + separate ANK catalog number = a premium product for classical philatelic collectors.
Is "Crypto stamp No. 6" in collector catalogs the Mythology edition?
No — and this is a common misconception. In ANK catalog numbering for the Gold line, "Crypto stamp No. 6" is the Golden Unicorn edition (2020) as the 6th entry in the Gold line. The Mainstream Crypto Stamp 6.0 (Zeus, 2025) is a separate stamp from the Mainstream line. The ambiguity exists because both lines run their own edition numbering.
Which blockchain do Gold Editions run on?
Gold Editions run exclusively on Polygon (ERC-1155). The line launched in 2020 after Austrian Post's migration from Ethereum to Polygon, so no Gold Edition exists on Ethereum Mainnet. Activation and secondary-market transfers run through crypto.post.at and cryptostamp.com.
